Goal #1 WINNERS!

There were 6 teams that met or exceeded the first goal for Battle of the Books. The goal was to have 8 books read and 8 summaries turned in as a team by lunch recess on Wednesday, November 18th.

Team Bobinators with 11 summaries
Team BFFs :) with 11 summaries
Team No Name with 9 summaries
Team Pickles with 8 summaries
Team Victory Girls 4 Life with 8 summaries

Goal #2 is to have a total of 12 books and summaries turned in by lunch recess on December 16th.

Make sure all 20 books on the Battle list are getting read by one or two team members so that someone on the team will know the answer to every question in the Battle.

Goal #1 Deadline: Lunchtime on Wednesday, Nov 18

On Wednesday, November 18th during the 4th and 5th grade lunch recess we will be meeting to see which teams reached the first goal of having 8 books read and 8 book summaries turned in as a team. A few teams have reached that goal and gone beyond it. Other teams are just about at the goal and we have several more teams that need to keep working to get closer.

Teams that have read 8 books and have 8 book summaries turned into Mrs. Loughrin in the library will have each team member earning a prize! Check back on Wedneday to find out how many teams reached the goal!

There are 41 kids competing in Battle of the Books this year. That brings us to a grand total of 12 teams! Only one team can win the Clovis Grove Battle. Keep reading those books!

Our first goal is to have 8 books read and 8 book summaries turned in as a team by Wednesday, November 18th at lunch time. If your team reaches this goal, everyone on the team will get a prize.

Keep on reading and coming back to the library to turn in your summaries and get a new book!

Battle Information Meeting

At the lunch recess today we had about 50 kids come to the Battle of the Books information meeting. Each kid took home a permission slip that needs to be signed by an adult at home. Permission slips are due back on Wednesday, Oct 28th. Once the permission slip is turned in, the student can start checking out one book at a time.

The next time teams will meet, will be on Wednesday, November 18th at lunch recess to check and see which teams have reached the goal of having 8 books read and summaries turned into the library. If your team has 8 books read and summaries turned in at that time, then each member of the team gets an incentive prize!

Welcome to Battle of the Books

Welcome to the 2009-2010 Clovis Grove blog for Battle of the Books. This is going to be an exciting year for the Battle.

We have many great books to read this year. We have the 3rd Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, Robe of Skulls by Vivian French and Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls to just name a few.

Remember, your permission slip is due in the library or the school office by Wednesday, October 28th.
